I go there and see offer and compare prices

Usually chap huey tiam sell things cheaper... Though they earn at a pathetic low margin

jetta SG

It's amazing how high rents are and I've always wondered how they manage to stay in business as long as they have. Now I'm thinking about hawkers and food. Laughing

So what are you up to today?

sbst275 SG

They have ppl like me to support them

Fresh food or items they dun sell I go Cold Storage

NTUC is never my choice

the Bear SG

hey jetta.. are you in san diego?

jetta SG

Yup. Why?

jetta SG

You're such a loyal customer. Got VIP card not? Laughing

sbst275 SG

I support them not because for any reason

"You have a choice" Laughing

jetta SG

What's your beef with NTUC? *curious*

sbst275 SG

No...

Govt should not be running such businesses

Even their homebrand items aren't cheap

jetta SG

Well, they started out for admirable reasons. Are those original intentions less admirable today?

sbst275 SG

No more

They went to PRC and invest and ended into a 'butt of debts' (Chinese phrase) Laughing Mad

Their homebrand, like 2kg vegetable palm cooking oil, cost $2.80.. I can get a Hand Brand one for $2.80 as well at a chap huey tiam

Cos they just mark up the other brands or bring in the more ex one to tell ppl my brand one is 'cheapest' Mr. Green

av98m SG

I go to Cold Storage for their much better selction AND better service. I think their staff actually receive some training in customer service.

NTUC more often than not you get the disgrunted aunties. Somemore not always cheaper than Cold Storage.

sbst275 SG

They really have service bef govt come with the GEMS

It's their own ppl spoling the service ind

Those chap huey tiam uncles are trying their best to serve, even like milk powder price increase I can understand them, margin is pathetic and any increase is like $1 per tin

the Bear SG

san diego.. was reading a story about this huge sinkhole that opened up at Pacific Beach...

so wondering if you saw it or something Razz

jetta SG

Was all over the news. Then did you hear about the jumper we had yesterday morning? Tied up traffic to Coronado island during the morning rush hour. I told hubby, that poor soul must have really been tortured and suicide to him, was the only solution.

jetta SG

Service at NTUC? They know the meaning of the word? On top of that, their aisles are too narrow, especially the Yishun MRT branch. Grrr. I prefer Cold Storage too. Especially their delivery service. Last Mother's Day some other Singaporeans in exile came up with the idea of having some groceries delivered to our mums on that day. I had a problem with my order and the service manager took the time to call me back (I was living in Japan then) at almost 9pm Sg time. Wow!

Fatum SG

why the hell should a worker's co-operative turn into a profit oriented corporate business, and be investing in China ? ...

there's also a co-op here ... but they actually give cash back rebates back to the customers from any profits they've made ...

something needs to be done about NTUC here ... they seem to have forgotten their roots ... Confused

LazerLordz SG

NTUC. Rolling Eyes

jetta SG

That's a very good point Fatum. I'd be interested in the answer.

How's your Friday evening so far? How cold is it in your neck of the woods?

Fatum SG

it snowed two nights ago ! ... Mad

but yeah, nothing going on so far, just sent someone to the airport ... and drove out to the boonies to watch the sunset .....

nursing another bottle of malt and surfing the web now ...

and NTUC is not just the only one i'm unhappy about ... I was hoping people can actually get down to specifics in this election, but no ... it's just a bunch of ranters ......
